Melbourne Business and Investment Corporation Pty Ltd (MBIC) specialises in Property Investment  Sales and Property Management. MBIC is committed to promoting the delivery of our professional services to our customers, clients and other organizations, ensuring the highest professional and ethical standards, underpinned by integrity and credibility. MBIC is a member of the Real Estate Institute of Victoria (REIV) and we are bound by the REIV Code of Conduct and Rules of Practice of the Real Estate Industry.

1. WHAT INFORMATION DOES MBIC COLLECT AND USE?

Due to the nature of our business, MBIC is privy to personal and financial information. This information is willingly provided by potential investors and business sellers and buyers as part of the process of buying investment properties; or buying and selling businesses and necessary to complete contracts of sale. We do not use or retain information for any other purposes than: providing the products and services consistent with our business, for auditing and legal requirements.
We also collect information relevant to employees, contractors and consultants in relation to employment or provision of services to MBIC.

2. DISCLOSING PERSONAL INFORMATION

Our customers' personal and financial  information is protected and only used in relation to products and services for which it was intended, in the first place.
Customarily, MBIC explains, how we use or disclose personal information at the time it is collected as required:
          (a)     by contract of sale agreements
          (b)     by law
          (c)     to protect the rights, property and personal safety of another MBIC purchaser, any member of the public or MBIC
          (d)     if the assets and operations of MBIC's business were transferred to another party as a going concern.

3. USE OF MBIC'S INFORMATION BY SERVICE PROVIDERS

MBIC uses a range of professional service providers as part of providing our business ie: solicitors, conveyancers, valuers,  finance brokers, body corporate managers, share registries and mail houses. As a result, these individuals and organizations outside of MBIC, may have access to personal information held by MBIC and may use it on behalf of MBIC's customers.
We require our service providers to sign a document confirming that they will at all times adhere to MBIC's privacy guidelines and not keep any information provided by MBIC or use it for any unauthorised purposes.

4. MARKETING COMMUNICATIONS

Marketing activities are critical to MBIC's continued success. We use contact lists and other personal information to promote new products and services as part of our business process. MBIC services include ongoing information support to our customers. This includes a range of property update mail outs, invitations to information nights and events.

5. CUSTOMER ACCESS TO THE INFORMATION

MBIC customers can request to access their information to:

          (a)     change any inaccurate or out of date personal information
          (b)     have their details removed from the marketing databases
          (c)     comply with legal requirements

Upon request a copy of customer information file will be made available within 14 days.

6. STORAGE AND SECURITY OF PERSONAL INFORMATION

MBIC also retains information and copies of contracts of sale for real estate, as well as in soft files including archive "back up" files for legal or auditing purposes. At MBIC we understand the importance of information security, accuracy and currency.
We require our employees and professional service providers to whom we refer our customers, to respect and maintain the confidentiality of any personal information provided by MBIC.

7. INTERNET

Generally, the data transmission over the Internet is not considered secure.Accordingly, MBIC, does not take responsibility for or guarantee the security of any personal information you transmit to us via the internet.
